US - Boston
Boston was a ton of fun!
I happen to love history, and Boston is obviously old as shit and full of cool stuff. I’m guessing non Americans would care far less but our founding fathers were right here…before there was a country! How cool. The Freedom Trail is killer and a great way to spend a nice day. The city does a pretty good job of explaining most of the things you stop at. Seeing the 54th Massachusetts Monument was particularly moving (Glory is one of the best movies ever made of course).
The Fenway area is pretty cool and loaded with food and drink. Island Creek Oyster Bar was good and owned by a friend of a friend.
Parrish Cafe was mentioned as one of the best sandwich places in the city…we found it to be good not great.
The North End was my favorite part of the city for sure. Good day drinking and walking around. Plus we ran into a carnival ha! Oh and we fell ass backwards into what we think was a mafia joint along the main drag. I’m not even sure Julie was welcome as it was all old Italian dudes in there…
Notes to self:
-I kind of loved the show Cheers, even though it was a bit before my time. My parents watched it religiously and that last episode gets me every time. “You’ll always come back tot he one you truly love…” Anyway, had to visit and it is basically a movie set for tourists. Gotta go, but man it’s really just disney world.
W Boston - Aug 2018
This is a pretty good W. Nice lobby with a cool bar. The location is right on Boston Common and it worked well for us.
We got upgraded to a cool corner (like level 5 or so on their categories) and it did not disappoint. The mini bar area was gigantic. The room service was great as always. The 24 hours action was well used by us...though oddly I would say the selections were limited.
The bathroom area was pretty giant and the shower was big enough for 2...or 3. Great spot.
