Spain - San Sebastian

Maria Cristina was pretty amazing.
Garden suite was ginormous. Only problem was the bathroom door! It was a double door that did not lock and it opened up to a beautiful bathroom and toilet…but no other door or lock. Totally available!
Even the premium king room was pretty huge. And it had a rad bathroom with an outer door lock but also an inner commode with its own door. I mean what the hell.
The hotel has a cool martini bar, a cool Chinese restaurant we actually enjoyed (saigon), and a pretty wonderful breakfast room. The hotel location was great and overall it was pretty stellar. No spa or pool or anything but for us that was ok.
Narru was a bit fancy for what we wanted. It might have just been the dining room, the bar would have been more fun.
Akelare was a Jesus this is annoying kind of three Michelin star experience.
The last night at Portuetxe was very cool but maybe not perfect timing right after the 3 michelin star experience. Fish heavy and rustic but still oddly fancy. And it wasn’t close.
The Pinxto Tour we got was amazing. A must do, and doing it the first full day was spot on.
The ferry tour was moderately interesting but we didn’t get off at the little island.
Old town was just about perfect and you could spend all day there and be happy. Locals call it expensive, but you won’t.
The beaches were great too. La Concha was bigger and more lay out friendly. The Gros area was cool and the beach was full of surfers but it was a younger persons game.

There were a number of kids areas where adults could sit on patios and sip drinks. We liked the Zuloago Plaza the best for this.
We spent 650 euros for a nice driver from San Sebastián to Bordeaux.

Notes to self:

-I’ve always, always, always wanted to go to San Sebastian. I’m glad I went, but I like the south of spain more.
