Spain - Tarifa

Tarifa is a tip jutting out just like Gibraltar. You can see Africa from there on a clear day. You can take a quick ferry to Morocco (Tangier) from there (we did) and see a whole new country and continent, if only for a day.

People literally work commute to Spain from Africa here as well…interesting I thought.

Notes to self:

-Not a bad little city.

Hotel Misiana Tarifa - Apr 2006

Holy shit what a surprise this hotel was. Somewhat normal European hotel with a small lobby and decent bar (kind of a trendy bar strangely) and restaurant. But. BUT. The top floor is all just one giant penthouse room with an enormous terrace. I mean huge bathroom, hot tubs, couches, chaise loungers, just perfect. It’s one of the best rooms I have seen and/or stayed in, in Europe. The elevator only stops on this floor if you’re staying in this room…it’s the whole floor. You have to stay there with a girl or bring a party with you though…this room should be taken advantage of. It was just so surprising to find it in the sea of “who gives a shit” that is the European hotel scene.

Though it pains me to say it, I must give credit where credit is due…this was a Rick Steve’s pick. I usually steer clear of his many “stable” suggestions, but he hit the nail on the head this time.
