US - Snowshoe WV

Snowshoe is the best we got in the mid Atlantic. Stay in Allegheny springs, Seneca, or expedition station, ideally facing the slopes, though the sunsets facing the other way are nice too. Allegheny seemed best and we were in 444/442. The 44’s have the circular jut out right over the slopes. Jan 2022.
The gas fireplace worked well.
The heated pool and hot tub area was actually great but hard to use if it’s too cold when you aren’t a cracked out 20 year old.
The Courderouy inn also seemed nice but there is a 10 min walk to the village. Courderoy has 3 restaurants that all share menus for the most part. The Appalachian Kitchen (fine dining) was only fine. The pizza which they serve at the bar and grill or to go was pretty good, and we confirmed this on the last visit. They are quick if you get your order in before prime time and the pizza is good. The courderoy bar and grill (Toque’s) is best with live music on the weekends and generally just a nice ski lodge restaurant feel.
The village restaurants were again just fine. The Mexican place we did not like.
I happened to like the fire grill place but the junction place rubbed me the wrong way.
On mountain we had drinks at the top at Hoots, which didn’t have as nice a view as you’d expect, and we ate lunch at the boathouse. It was good ski resort fun in both places. The shavers cafeteria is as low brow as you can get and had the most wonderful hockey puck cheeseburgers with fries. Gross perfection, not kidding. Loved it.
Cheat Mountain pizza was garbage (strange to say but on this most recent visit we sat at their bar, had cheesebread and a couple sandwiches and had a freaking blast, and thought the food was good, so who knows).

Most recently (Jan 2023) we stayed in a house right down the road. Had a blast. It had a hot tub which the cool condos don’t have, but we had to drive to the resort and park, literally 5 minutes but that’s a lot different than walking out your door. I’m honestly not sure which accommodation was better.
