US - Charlotte
On my most recent to visit to Charlotte I still don’t feel like I know it. I want to know it better but it just always makes me feel like I’m in downtown Manhattan, which is not a particularly fun place to be. It’s a place built for function, and I’d like some style in my life please.
I was told to go visit Salud, and I’m sad that I didn’t so I wanted to leave the reminder for next time.
Not much to say here. I like Charlotte. Been to some nice club-like places there. Mostly one goes through Charlotte rather than staying in it…unless you have family there, which I don’t, I have family in a small town outside of there that is in no need of explanation.

Grand Bohemian Charlotte - Feb 2021
Not that I think Charlotte has a ton of fantastic options. It’s a “Ritz Carlton is the best” kind of town, which is mostly not ok with me. This hotel changes that, a bit. It feels boutiquey even though it is quite large.
They have a pretty rad restaurant in the lobby area and an even radder outdoor bar area that has some south beach style mixed in.
We got a King Suite and it was perfectly nice. Big room and the sitting area separation worked out great with a kid needing to go to bed. The TV is huge and it does have pay per view. Nothing in the mini fridges and room service is canceled for Covid but it is normally offerred.
The real room treat is the bathroom which is gigantic with a huge tub, great shower, and completely separate toilet area. Love it when they do that.
The hotel has art everywhere in the common areas (and the rooms) which gives off a sexier than you’d expect vibe than you’d expect in Charlotte. The chandeliers are pretty sweet too. They are everywhere and they just work.
Notes
-Valet at 39 was a little pricey for what seems to be a concrete jungle area. But it was easy and that made me happy.
Courtyard Gastonia - Aug 2016, Feb 2018
My girl went here in 2021 and swore she could never go back. All of the below happened before her new Courtyard Gastonia blood oath.
Free parking, no pay per view, mini bar existed but was empty.
Bar downstairs was just fine and there was a nice outdoor space to drink.
Pool is fine with a hot tub but it’s too small for laps. Gym is small but fine. No room service.
