US - San Francisco
I never quite figured out why so many people love San Francisco. The weather kinda sucks and there are massive hills everywhere. I should probably move there just to get in shape! That being said, it has some of the best bars and restaurants in the US, plenty of cool hotels, and a bayside road filled with various markets, piers, and views. I like visiting if the weather is good and if I have a friend who lives there at the time.
Update! Not much has changed! haha. Definitely lovin the Ferry Building, they really put in the right mix of stuff in there (especially that bangin grilled cheese shop).
Boundin Bakery, which has blown up all over town is also rad and they get busy as shit.
The highlight for me might of been the simple but perfect Tartine Bakery (I'm really into bakeries right now). Those people know what they're doing.
My little one adored the aquarium, perhaps not worth the money if you compare it to like Baltimore aquarium, but there's plenty for a little kid to enjoy.
Notes to self:
-Do the Alcatraz tour again, that shit was cool.
-Rent a limo and do more wine country. It’s a gorgeous drive and the wineries are close enough together, and you can schedule some fun small ones.
-Gotta go to a baseball game every time. What a perfect stadium.
-Love that trolley!
Marriott Fisherman’s Wharf - Jul 2018
We weren't here very long but this hotel was actually pretty perfect for us. I like it much more than the Sheraton but I like the Sheraton location better. All of the really good hotels are up the hill but we wanted to stay as close to the wharf as possible.
This place did the trick. It had been recently updated for sure.
No PPV, empty mini bar, but they did have basic room service. And there was a decent bar area honestly.
Free breakfast downstairs was pretty bangin. They had just about everything (though they called it "continental").
Sheraton Fisherman’s Wharf - Jul 2018
Just to be clear, this hotel is currently under a pretty major renovation. It did not affect us in any way but the look of the hotel is currently changing, and from the looks of the pictures they put up it seems it will be nicer very soon.
This is a fine hotel. Nothing very fancy. The key to everything here is the location. It's absolutely perfect for first time visitors to San Francisco, which some of us were. It's especially helpful to those that have a small child and a jet lag issue
They offer a platinum lounge with snacks and coffee, which came in handy because there didn't appear to be any coffee for my people otherwise! The breakfast, which wasn't included seemed expensive...so we ate breakfast at the wharf, far better imho.
Room service was available but limited. They had regular ppv.
We had one suite and one regular room. The suites have empty mini bars. Both rooms were fine though, the suite just offered us a separate room for the kid.
Our room looked right out over the pool area. It was small but it was nice and it had fire pit for lounging.
Clift - Sep 2011
I'm a big fan of the Morgans Hotel Group and the Clift does not disappoint. Every part of the lobby and interior is exaggerated in a fantastic way. It just feels interesting and hip.
My one complaint about the hotel group is that their hotel areas are always awesome, but their non suite rooms are almost always not. The rooms are great, just not great like the lobby or bars. I want them to be more done up, I want them to be better. Even one really cool feature can go a long way, and my room did not have one.
Great hotel though. I would come here for a drink even if I wasn't staying.
W San Francisco - Mar 2007
I liked this hotel a lot when I stayed there but I am told they have made many changes since then, so I must visit it once more to truly know...
While I was there the lobby bar area was nicely sized and the bar itself was cool and popular. My room was a cool corner and had a decent amount of space and couches surrounding the giant windows (offering an awesome view).
